Walks from St Ives

St Ives to Woodhurst (4.5 miles)
A pleasant walk through farmland and some woodland to the Anglo-Saxon ring village of Woodhurst.

St Ives to Hemingford Abbots (6 miles)
A walk to the pretty Anglo-Saxon village of Hemingford Abbots, one never to tire of because of its detours and variety. Great snacks or light lunch to eat (other than in winter) at Houghton Mill cafe whilst overlooking The Ouse. Alternatively a lovely coffee and snacks, or a more substantial and delicious lunch, at The Axe & Compass, a 15th century thatched pub.

St Ives to Holywell (5 miles)
A walk to the pretty Anglo-Saxon ring village of Holywell, passing through fields and along the River Ouse, and with options to extend the route. Food and drink available at the Old Ferry Boat Inn, a haunted pub that's been serving ale for almost 1,500 years and is reputed to be the oldest pub in England.

Hemingford Meadow (under 3 miles)
An easy walk across an ancient meadow, along butterfly filled hedges and the peaceful River Ouse. Since it only takes an hour, it's the perfect walk for a sunny morning or afternoon, to be followed up with lunch or a coffee and cake at The Dolphin.

St Ives to Houghton via Wyton on the Hill (8 miles)
Although a longer walk, with a snack or meal at Houghton Mill cafe it seems much shorter. In addition it's very peaceful with great variety and a lovely village. One of my favourites.

    1. Thanks for the comment Connor. I've got another walk to add, around the nature reserve at Needingworth. Maybe I'll take you and Sammy there. You'd both love it. x
