Let's go for a walk. On a sunny day, whatever time of year, how better to spend time? Especially if there's a good resting place to buy lunch or enjoy a picnic. Throw in wildlife, scenery and some historical interest and you've got a winning combination.

This website is dedicated to walks around our beautiful town of St Ives, Cambridgeshire. The land is flat, but with tall skies and wide horizons there's a fantastic feeling of open spaces.

Just pick from the choices below to access a selection of walks. Each has a map, guidance and points of interest. Click the 'Print Friendly' button at the bottom of any page to take details of the walk with you. Most include photos. Wherever you are on the website, click the 'Return Home' button at the foot of any page to return here.

Each walk not only includes the distance but also number of steps, so you can check on your 10,000 steps a day target. To estimate the time for a walk, allow an hour per three miles (an hour per mile if taking young children) and add on time for a break or lunch.

If you're on Facebook, why not like the Cambridgeshire Walks page? You'll be able to keep up to date with the Walk of the Week and interesting walking information. To access that page click here.

Taking the kids (or grandchildren)? Check out the great activity ideas and resources to get them in the habit of walking. Just about any footpath is almost certainly ancient, so why not read about the history of footpaths before you set off? And if you like the walk, notice anything interesting or know of a new walk, just add a comment or click 'Contact me' below.

Please note, Cambridgeshire Walks is getting a bit of a makeover at present. For a while some pages will still be in the old style.
